The Purpose of the Gospel of John

"Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." John 20:30

As we hear this gospel preached over the next year or so may we wrestle hard with the many implications of what it means to believe in Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God and may we come to understand and enjoy the life that is found in his name. May you correct any dangerous misunderstandings or lazy assumptions we may have and want to hold on to concerning Jesus. Use this gospel to energize us to advance your kingdom.
