It was recently, while I was reading Lewis' biography, that I realized the main differences between professor/learned-types and myself, was the fact that they devote themselves to reading and study to the level that it was actual work, like another job. It's the difference between talking about learning something and actually learning something.

Maybe we should become security guards or toll collectors on some rarely used road.
