Humility to Honor

A Proverb of Solomon: The fear of the LORD is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

This proverb, specifically the portion concerning humility and honor, can be read as pertaining both to our current lives as they are lived here and now as well as to the future humbling and exalting that the LORD will perform in the future.

An interesting example of the former: Einstein was once asked how he discovered his theory of relativity. He replied, "the ordinary adult never bothers his head about the problems of space and time. These are things he has thought of as a child. But I developed so slowly that I began to wonder about space and time only when I was already grown up. I probed more deeply into the problem than an ordinary child would have."
